SRI, the company behind SIRI, Apple's virtual assistant, is developing a new assistant which can identify a user's emotional state and modify its behaviour and responses accordingly.
The system uses cues such as typing patterns, speech tone, facial expressions and body movements to detect emotions and a machine learning algorithm is then trained to react. For example, if it detects a user is becoming confused, it can slow down its responses.
