In an ideal world, we would all only need one browser and it would meet all of our need. For work, home life, development etc, one browser would meet all our needs.
Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world.
I currently use four browsers in my work life, five if you count Safari on my iOS devices. But why is it this way.
Browser 1 - Chrome stable, my main browser
I use Chrome stable as my main everyday browser and have it linked to my Gmail account. This is my goto tool for browsing, Gmail, Google Analytics etc.
Browser 2 - Chrome Canary
I use Chrome canary for development as I like to test the new development flag features etc. I also have my Gmail account linked to this browser so I can sync tabs easier.
Browser 3 - Firefox stable
I use Firefox to manage and review AdWords campaign using a company Gmail account because, unlink Google Analytics, you can't currently log into it using a personal Gmail account. I sure hope they change that one day.
If I use Google AdWords in one of my Chrome browsers I have to log out of my Gmail account, into the company account etc. This is tiring at best....
Browser 4 - IE 9
Yes, you read that right, IE 9. In compatibility mode no less.......
Our ERP requires a version of Java which was released sometime during the last millennium so you need to have a similarly inept and ancient browser to in order to use its web interface.
So, in summary, that's my justification for a four (five) browser workflow.
How many browsers do you use?
