Got a WordPress install and want to upload larger than the default 2 MB file size to it? Well, I did.
To do this, you need to edit settings in your PHP.ini file which isn't part of WordPress but part of Apache; assuming you're using an Apache server.
You can find this on you computer by using from the terminal (if you're on Windows, I'm sorry, I can't help you, unless you are using Cygwin in which case this works fine):
$ find . | grep php.ini
On my computer, php.ini was in:
In php.ini, find the following variables and increase the file size to a limit you want (remember not to be too ambitions):
For me, memory_limit was find (128 MB from memory) but I had to increase the other two, I increased them to 16 MB because that was over the size of the largest video I wanted to upload.
Once you've updated php.ini, just restart apache and you're done
$ sudo apache2ctl gentle
